Linear and Office Lighting
One of the defining features of LEDs is that they emit light in a specific direction. Since directional lighting reduces the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light, a well-designed LED fixture can deliver light efficiently to the intended location. In contrast, fluorescent lamps emit light in all directions where much of the light produced is lost. For many fixture types, it is not uncommon for 40 to 50 percent of the total light output to be lost before it exits the fixture.
Add to this the superior efficacy of the LEDs and the extended life of LEDs and you get significant savings in both energy and maintenance. For these reasons, linear LED bulbs and fixtures are now becoming the smart choice for retrofits and new installations.
